Tory Lanez is making major moves from behind bars, again. The currently incarcerated rapper has announced the re-release of his 2014 mixtape Lost Cause on streaming platforms, set to drop Friday (October 4). This is the first time the fan-favorite project will be available on major digital platforms, signaling that all the tracks have been cleared for publishing—allowing Lanez to finally profit from the mixtape.
In a reflective Instagram post, Lanez gave a special shoutout to Miami rap legend Trina, who played a key role in jumpstarting his career. “Ten years ago, I was broke as fuck... I LITERALLY put my blood, sweat, and tears into this project,” Lanez wrote, recalling how he stayed on couches and lived out of cars while developing his sound.
He credited Trina not just for offering him a place to stay, but also for investing in his music. “She put five bands up and helped me get the video shot,” he shared, referencing the music video for “Godfather.” It was this hustle that led Lanez to his first major deal with Interscope and producer Benny Blanco’s Mad Love Records.
