Jimmy Waters just wrapped up his Be Legendary Tour and it is really a symbol of what independent artists can really achieve. He pulled off a totally self funded headline tour successfully. While on the tour he said he wants to double back this winter and hit a new set of cities. We caught the final tour stop out in LA where he performed in front of a completely full crowd. Jimmy rocked the room for a full hour, brought out Will Hill, and even bought a round of drinks for everybody. The energy inside the building felt exactly like a celebratory family cookout.

This milestone is a massive deal for the indie scene because a lot of folks reading this might still not know who Jimmy Waters is yet. He stays winning because he completely refuses to focus on cheap internet virality. Sure he will post reels and photos occasionally to market the drops but his fans actually found him through organic discovery. People are clicking his cool album covers or catching his tracks on streaming platforms right after a Larry June or Dom Kennedy record finishes. We even heard the DJ spinning Jimmy during the opening sets at the Dom Kennedy tour stop out in Houston. Wiz Khalifa also gave him a massive cosign when he played his music live on stream one time.

You really have to understand that veterans like Curren$y, Dom Kennedy, and Wiz are pushing toward the end of their careers. Fans and critics are actively looking at the next generation of lifestyle artists who will run the net for the next ten years. Jimmy Waters is undeniably carving out his spot as a major part of that specific group. He proves that you can still break through the old fashioned way by relying on classic music discovery. Instead of stressing over internet fame, he converts new fans in real time through dope shows and word of mouth.

We are currently living in an algorithm driven era where artists feel like they must post three hundred times a day. Jimmy is flipping that tired script by making sure he is leading with the actual music first. He treats the studio work and the live show as his main pull for fans. Social media and reels are utilized as an added bonus rather than his absolute priority. You simply cannot rely on an algorithm to secure a Wiz Khalifa cosign out of nowhere.

An algorithm is also never going to get your records played in front of a sold out Dom Kennedy show in Houston. It takes a genuine connection and great music to make those authentic moments happen in real life. That is exactly why this recent headline run was such an important reminder to other independent acts. The game needs more creatives who are willing to bet on themselves to succeed without a deal. Jimmy is showing everyone exactly what is possible when you trust your own sound.

Jimmy is going to keep this heavy momentum going by building off the success of those first five cities. Right now he said his immediate plan is to step away and focus on finishing the album. Once the music is completely finished he will try to get right back on the road. He is already talking about hitting those new stages when the winter rolls around. We definitely expect to see his name buzzing even more by the time that next run starts.
